Other Local New Thought Churches

Unity is one of several "New Thought" movements or denominations.  All New Thought churches regard Jesus as their Master Teacher, i.e. their members can rightfully consider themselves to be "Christian."  But the teachings of New Thought are distinguished from the teachings of other Christian denominations in several significant ways (and to a greater or lesser degree, depending upon the denomination):

• God is the ONLY Power in the Universe, everywhere Present, all Good, arising in all things and in all circumstances (i.e. there is no cosmic, demonic power in competition with God)
• We are all children of God, i.e. the Christ, the Son of God, is present in each person
• Evil arises from a lack of awareness of the Christ within
• Our experience in life is determined by our consciousness
• We each have the power to change our consciousness and, therefore, change our experience

The following New Thought churches share these theological views with Unity, although the particulars of the teachings may vary.
