Lessons in Living -- the Essence of Unity's Teachings

Description:  Written in 1892 and published as installments in "Modern Thought," Charles Fillmore's monthly magazine, Lessons in Truth has provided hundreds of thousands of Unity students a concise and very understandable presentation of Unity's basic teachings.  Maya Angelou, the poet that presented at President Clinton's 1992 inaugural and has been a frequent guest on Oprah, speaks of Lesson in Truth as "the single most influential book I have ever read (the Bible excluded)."

The topics to be discussed include:

The class will consist of interactive presentation, small group discussion and meditation.  Homework is assigned with reading of about 25 pages per week, daily meditation and prayer.

Upon completion of the class, the participant will understand the basis of Unity's teachings, build a framework of new perspectives for encountering life's experiences and engage those experiences in a more constructive and meaningful way.  Applying this knowledge to the study of the Bible will open the Christian scriptures in a wonderfully enlightening way.

Fulfills voting membership class prerequisites.

Scheduled to Begin:  Oct 1, 2008, 7:00-9:00p.

Duration:  7 weeks, one two-hour session each week.

Materials Required:  Lessons in Truth by Emily Cady (cost $14.95 plus tax) may be ordered at registration.  The Bible is also recommended.  Any translation with which you are comfortable is appropriate.  The New Revised Standard Version is used by the instructor.
