Power of Purpose -- Reaching Your goals

About two years ago I (Marrrek) took a course called “Power of Purpose”, it was only 5 weeks, one night a week for 3 hours in the evening, but it had a profound impact on me. One of the things we were asked to do is to list all our goals in various areas of our life: career, family, relationships and so forth. When it came to relationships, I started really wondering what my goal truly was with respect to friendships. I had many causal acquaintances but only a few close friends, and even those friendships were not all that satisfying.

I wrote down as my goal: “I want deep, satisfying connections.” In the following weeks of the course, we were given very powerful tools to help in reaching our goals, one of which helped me tremendously: a tool to discover what has been blocking me from reaching some of my goals. In my relationship goal, what I found was in the way was not what I had expected: finding people that want deep connections with me. Instead, I found out that I was the one blocking deep connections, out of fear of getting close to others.

With the tools from the course, I have been able to reach many of the goals I set out, some long term and many short term. It’s an amazing experience to see how all the stress and frustration in reaching my goals have been greatly reduced, and that I am far more “on purpose” than I ever imagined possible. This Thanksgiving, I am extremely grateful for some of the deep connections I have made in the last year, including a deep friendship with an ex-girlfriend, and many new friendships that I value greatly.

Because of the amazing results I was able to achieve, as well as seeing others over the last years having similar results, I decided to become a licensed teacher of the course.
