Heart of Living Water

If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.  – John 4:10

Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water. – John 7:38

We are each blessed with the love that comes directly from the Heart of God, flowing through our hearts into this moment.  Our challenge is to be aware of this love and the healing, life-giving force that it contains.  As we believe, so it is.  It is not that our belief causes the living water to flow; it is that our belief allows us to be aware of the living water that is already flowing through us.

Our yoga (our “yoke” or “spiritual work”) at Living Water Unity Church is to be aware of this living water, to use it to irrigate a parched landscape – not to allocate it just to our “special someones” – but to let it flow unimpeded into our experience, touching everyone that we meet.  It is then that the full healing power of this Divine Love, this living water, is realized.  It is then that we become aware of our kinship with the Divine: as children of the Most High, sons and daughters of the Living God.

The image shown is one emergence of water from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, located about 80 miles northeast of Arles, in southern France.  It is a wonderful depiction of the living water that flows through us from the Heart of God.  The photo was taken during our 2007 trip to Provence.  Along 300 yards of mountainside, about 20 of these "fountains" arise from the mountain, feeding a river that runs at about 500 gallons per second within a quarter mile of its "headwaters".  This photo was taken during a "low" water flow period.
