Meetings -- October 20, 2005

Checking in.
The meeting was called to order by PD at
6:33 p.m.
Opening prayer by DR.
Review of minutes of the last Board
Meeting by CJ: Tithes are to be added. Motion to approve as amended by DC,
second by DR. Motion passed.
Operating Statement & AUC Financial
Report presented by DR: Income is high due to a $16000 gift which was used to
pay unpaid expense reports. Motion to approve by DC, second by PSD. Motion
passed.
Old Business
Fund Raising:
Adams County:
- Proceeds were approximately $750.
- 150 breakfast burritos would be
enough for next year’s event.
- We will look for someone new to chair
the fundraiser.
- Be sure to have an experienced
volunteer for each shift so the chairperson doesn’t have to be there the whole
time.
Rock Me On the Water:
- The concert will be November 13, 2005
from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
- Performers will include Third Road
Home, The Cara Cantarella Band, James & Kitty Faulk Craig Corona and The Five
Killars of Faith (The Living Water Unity Band).
- Coffee & dessert will be included.
- Tickets will be $20, $40 and $60.
- Posters were designed by John
Brisnehan. Some distribution has been done.
- Concert information has also been
posted on Craig’s List, The Spiritual Events Calendar, KGNU, KUNC and
Denver-Boulder Music.com. Tom & Trinity Demask may mention the concert during
a KGNU interview on November 1. CJ will ask performers who have web sites to
post the event.
- Anne Polich will provide cheese cake;
Crystal will do gofer work in the afternoon and provide child care. DC will
man the CD table.
- 20 tickets have been sold thus far
for $870.00.
Fundraiser Training Saturdays:
- We will ask for volunteers outside of
the board to be involved in a Financial Sustainability Committee.
Raising More Money System
Implementation Possibilities:
- We must have an outstanding outreach
program to make Raising More Money effective.
Outreach:
- Cindy Aron will open 2 more sections
of Speaking Circles.
- She will rent the church on Tuesday
nights for professional speaking circles.
- She has volunteered to facilitate at
Unity Ministers luncheons for a period of several months.
- We want to get Speaking Circles into
high schools. Cindy will train trainers who would sign an agreement that they
will only present skills to high school students as a speaking group based on
the principles of Speaking Circles.
- Organization called Creative Shift to
help middle & high school students develop their creative outlets. Help
students in their creative expression, to encourage rather than to judge.
- Go to principals, counselors, English
and Drama teachers.
- Will the schools be concerned that
it’s being offered by a church? We will talk about this before the next
meeting.
- Put together a committee to discuss
creating a proposal.
Resurvey Congregation:
- Motion to revisit the issue at the
next Board Meeting by PS, second by CJ. Motion passed.
Newsletter:
- DC will write an article on
Thanksgiving (225 words).
- Board letter about financial
Sustainability, the first anniversary in our new space and the 6th
anniversary of the church will be written by PS.
New Business
Pandemic flu:
- Bird Flu could be a serious pandemic.
If it is, our church is at great risk.
- We need to be thinking about how to
insure the sustainability of the church if people choose not to come to
church.
- Discuss at next meeting after doing
research on cost of upgrading video system. Motion by PS, 2nd by
KJ. Motion passed
Meeting Location:
- We have become the meeting location
of a homeowner’s association, every 2nd Tuesday of the month. They
are paying $25 per meeting.
Tithes:
- Tithe recipients are Alternatives to
Family Violence and Unity Pathways – Aurora.
- The tithe amounts are $1404 To
Alternatives, $936 to Unity Pathways.
