Minutes of the Meetings -- July 15, 2004

PS called meeting to order at 7:09p.m.

Opening Prayer by DR.

Check in

Review of minutes of last Board meeting by KJ: Motion to accept the minutes by DC, second by PD.  Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report presented by DC.  Motion to approve report by PD, second by KJ.  Motion passed.

 

Old Business:

  1. Review of Congregation Survey

  1. Pot Luck Discussions:

a.       Most congregants prefer groups that meet every two weeks instead of weekly.

b.       Groups will probably meet on Wednesday evenings.

c.       The Meditation Group will meet the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month and the Book Study Group will meet the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month. The Meditation Group will meet again if there is a 5th meeting day during a month.

d.       Groups will meet in a home.

e.       We’ll explore the possibility of providing baby sitters.

f.        Group format

1.       Check-in (10 minutes) – witnessing God in our lives

2.       Book discussion or meditation

3.       Prayer circle (20 to 30 minutes) – Mastermind format: One person makes a request then each person offers a payer in response. The next person makes a request and the same process is followed.

g.       We’ll discuss community projects at the next meeting.

h.       Small groups will present their activities at pot lucks.

i.         Groups will probably meet on Wednesday evenings.

  1. T-shirts and Polo Shirts (Paul and Pam Denny): The cost of t-shirts with 2 transfers is $5.50. Polo shirts cost $7.63 without transfers. Dye sublimation process will be used. We’ll discuss the details next month.

  1. Date for music benefit: The benefit will be held on either October 2nd or October 9th. The particulars will be settled by the newsletter deadline. We will do a big promotion through other Unity churches.

New Business:

  1. Newsletter: A 400 to 450 word letter from the board is needed. Scott Wilson will write an article on A Course in Miracles.

  1. Tithes to community and Unity groups for July: Unity of Nacogdoches ($142) and Broomfield FISH ($213). The total amount of the tithe is $355.
