Minutes of the Meetings -- February 17, 2005

The meeting was called to order by PD at 7:07 p.m.

Opening prayer by DC.

Review of minutes of last Board meeting by KJ:  Motion to accept the minutes by DC, second by PD.  Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report presented by DC:

Motion to approve the Treasurer’s report by PD, second by KJ.  Motion passed

Old Business

  1. Facilities update
    1. Exterior signage: Cost of the sign will be $2337 + a permit fee of approximately $350. We will need to put 50% down.
    2. Balancing HVAC: The work may be done on February 18. Either the thermostat will be moved or multiple thermostats will be installed.
  1. Springfest Renewal: Scholarships will be available for volunteers. We will call for volunteers from the congregation.
  1. Newsletter: We will have a March/April newsletter.
  1. Marketing
    1. We haven’t heard of suitable bus bench locations.
    2. We want to get an ad in the Arvada DEX.
    3. We will do flyers for Easter. PD will come up with a volunteer schedule.
  1. 2004 Survey results
    1. We will review the survey and come back with ideas.
    2. We would like to do the survey again due to our growth and change - possibly in April.

New Business

  1. Community Outreach: Jen Gordon is coordinating the Covenant Village project.
  1. Cash Flow
    1. Motion that 80% of proposed receipt of funds be invested and 20% be allocated to cash reserves. The cash reserves will be placed in our Mutual Fund. Motion by DR, second by PD. Motion passed.
    2. Motion for individual benevolence to David Benitez through Friends of the Family by DR second by PD. Motion passed.
  1. Yogalates: Katie Rucker will be teaching a Yogalates class.
  1. Community Groups: We will consider forming home study groups for prayer, discussion of life issues, support and Bible Study.
  1. Tsunami Relief: Total amount raised was just under $3200.
  1. Tithes for January will go to Unity Pathways in Aurora ($586) and Alternatives to Family Violence ($878). Motion by DR, second by PD.
